Parimarjan Shocked, Himanshu Surges Ahead

The dream run of IM Himanshu Sharma continued in this tournament as added one more scalp in Bangaldeshi GM, Abdulla Al-Rakib in the 7 th round of the Parsvnath Commonwealth Chess Championship 2007 in progress here at Sirifort Sports Auditorium. With this win, Himanshu maintains the lead over the field by a margin of half-point with a score of 6½.

GM Parimarjan was in his elements today as he achieved complete command in the French defense game from the white side. With a knight . Negi emerged better on the material count by move 34 however; disaster struck him as he made some dubious moves to loosen his grip  and lost thge game.

The sole leader was spotted at the halfway stage of the Parsvnath Commonwealth Chess Championship 2007 in progress here at Sirifort Sports Auditorium as IM Himanshu Sharma scored an unexpected win over the fancied GM R.B. Ramesh to take the sole lead with a full score of 5 points. Himashu now leads the 282 player field by a margin of half-a-point.

Only 19 players could advanced to round 3.India’s Krishnan Sasikiran drew his games against Zvjaginsev and will now try his luck in the tie breaks in the World Chess Cup.  12 games out of 32 had  decisive results while Thirteen players needed to win to level the score in their matches, but only Ruslan Ponomariov managed to do so. In 9 matches the aspiring players only managed a draw, while in three matches they lost yet again.
