Anand Draws,Topalov beats Kramnik

With many wins and draws Corus Chess Championship is still wide open. Magnus Carlsons loss made Levon Aronian to join him on the first spot with

Anand Scores Again, Negi wins at Corus

Thee 8th Round of the Corus Chess Championship saw the clash of the Titans in which Reigning world Chess Champion Vishy Anand came out Victorious against the Former World Chess Champion Veselin Topalov. In this Sicilian Najdorf game Anand played an original idea in g6 on the 11th move with the idea of  trading the dark bishops square later in the game. Veselin Topalov tried hard to consolidate his position but the Indian Mastero cleverly mobilsed his pieces in such a way that Topalov could not move his pieces effectively.

Anand Draws at Corus

Grandmaster Viswanatahan Anand drew again at the ongoing Corus Chess Meet being played at Wijk aan ZEE.. The festivities at the start of round 6 were clouded by the sad news of the death of former world champion Bobby Fischer in Iceland, after a prolonged illness. This was a day of drawn games at Corus Chess Meet 2008, being played at Wijk Aan Zee in Netherlands. In the third round Viswanathan Anand  and Vladimir Kramnik had short draws in their respective games.

CORUS CHESS MEET 2008 present a tough competition

Wikk Aan Zee , Holland, 12^th January 2008. India’s Super grandmaster and the reigning World Chess Champion Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand opened his Quest for the Coveted Corus Title and a place in the Grand Slam Finals  in the first round game against Radjabov.

The Super Grandmasters Group A will prove to be toughtest this year as the Top Chess Players Like Anand, Kramnik, Ivanchuck,Topalov, Leko  Mamedyrav, Radjabov, Adams, are amongst the 14 grandmasters playing this year.

Anand-Kramnik Share Top Spots in New Ranking

The World Chess Body FIDE has published the January rating list. As expected Anand and Kramnik are at the top. In the top-10 group six players gained points: Svidler (+31),Shirov (+16), Kramnik (+14), Topalov (+11), Morozevich (+10), Mamedyarov (+8). The  biggest loss in the top-10  was recorded by Ivanchuk (-36). Anand, Leko and Aronian lost 2 points each.

Besides Viswanathan Anand, the Ukranian top GM Vassily Ivanchuk, the ex World Champion GM Veselin Topalov, the Norwegian prodigy GM Magnus Carlsen, the Hungarian top star GM Peter Leko, the Azeibardjan young talent GM Teimour Radjabov, the Armenian number 1 GM Levon Aronian, and the World Cup finalist GM Alexei Shirov are the other participants

Anand and Kramnik to play for world title

World Reigning Champion Viswanathan Anand and the Runners up Vladimir Kramnik will play a 12 game championship for the world chess champions title to be held in Bonn Germany from 11th  to 28th Oct 2008.
