Ganguly recovers. Harikrishna held Laznicka at World Open

GM Surya Sekhar Ganguly, after loosing to Championship leader Viktor Laznicka in the 5th round , came back with a bang when he demolished compatriot GM P Magesh in just 41 moves.. Both the players played identical moves in the beginning hinting to follow Kings Indian Attack when Ganguly deviated on the 5th move and the game was then played on English opening lines.. Ganguly played with confidence and capatalised on his opponents mistakes. In the end game under time pressure Magesh committed a blunder which finally brought his downfall. Ganguly will meet GM Alexander Shabalov in the 8th round.
The winning streak of the Championship leader GM Viktor Laznicka came to an end when GM Pentala Harikrishna held him for a draw. Sandipan Chanda , Sundaraja Kidambi, Gata Kamsky, IlyaSmirin, Luke McShane and Vallejo Pons drew their games.
